Yamin is a magic user which in his world is considered rare (only nobility can use magic). He the prince of the reigning family who are knowledgeable of creatures called "catalysts." Catalysts amplify ones magic ability simply by coming in contact with the spell caster. His tattoo, given to him by the royal family, allows him to detect the presence of a catalyst. In short, it glows when ever he comes in skin contact with a catalyst ^^

the tattoo? yeah someone could kidnap him into becoming a catalyst detector. The catalyst could also be used against him by any other spell caster. All of this will eventually appear in the story ^^

::nods:: The thing about the first option is that said person would have to be much stronger, and correct me if I'm wrong, but since there are so few spell-casters in the world wouldn't that make them elites as far as fighting goes? Any melee unit that tried to get close enough to attack would be quickly dispatched, and since all spell-casters are royalty they'd have their own catalyst tattoo, making it useless to use him as just a catalyst detector.

That makes sense, a spell-caster being able to use the catalyst against him, though.

Not all spell casters are elite in fighting since most of them dont have proper training. There's this special academy that exists created by the first person to master spell casting. Since then only those closest to the founder in blood have been able to attend it.

Yes all spell casters are nobility, but even nobility has sub-ranks. There are some people who can use magic but are poor as dirt (the bastard children of wealthy men). These individuals have little control and thus cant fight well.

Yamin is the only one with the catalyst tattoo because it also stands for "the one who shall rule." He is the current heir to the throne and thus has the tattoo. If he were to die, the tattoo would loose its effects and a new tattoo would be branded on the next in line to the throne (in this story that would be his cousin).

Ah, I getcha... that makes sense. It'd be the perfect trap to dispose of those who could possibly get rid of the king and set themselves up in his place...
