dA-Scholarship Project

Sorry this isn't an update about Oni-con (I'm still waiting on some photos since I didnt really take any pictures myself @_@...)

But I really wanted to write to tell you about a really amazing group here on dA that is starting to get off the ground called *dA-ScholarsProject :iconda-scholarsproject:.

"The dA Scholars Project(dASP) is a petition for a small (or large) Scholarship to be awarded from dA to a worthy applicant who plans on pursuing a degree in the Arts."

Don't you guys think this is an amazing opportunity for deviantArt to really make a difference in a deviant's life? As a college sophomore, I remember when I was a senior in high school applying to several scholarships, scrambling for money because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to afford a higher education. Luckily I chose to attend a science & engineering-oriented university, so there were several academic-based scholarships to apply to.

For art schools it is VERY different. The most expensive undergraduate educations are found in art schools because 1) there aren't that many art-related scholarships (this includes college-based, government, and third-party scholarships) 2) The average cost-of-living is higher (Most college students worry about food, clothes, and housing; art students worry about that and very expensive art supplies to buy and replenish)

I think this idea of creating an Art scholarship is amazing. DeviantArt prides itself in being the largest online art community, so I believe it's only appropriate that they create an Art scholarship! If you want to see this idea come to life, please show your support for *dA-ScholarsProject :iconda-scholarsproject:. If the group becomes large enough and makes a petition, I'm sure dA admins will consider this new idea!!

i just looked at the dates and kamikaze con is over my spring break and anime matsuri is over my 5 day easter weekend so i'll most likly be going to both since i'll be in town.
